Souni started working as a server at The Capital Grille in Miami in 2004. He was immediately impressed with the many benefits offered by the company, such as the generous health insurance program, 401K retirement savings plan, online resources and training opportunities. When he learned about the company’s server training position, he decided to pursue this career advancement opportunity. After impressing a supervisor with his serving skills, knowledge, and passion, Souni was promoted to an in-restaurant training position. Today, he is a Lead Server Trainer, traveling the country helping train servers prior to the opening of new restaurants for The Capital Grille. He works with newly hired servers, teaching them proper serving procedures, as well as how to meet or exceed customer service expectations. Souni has been involved with 18 restaurant openings in 16 cities across the country, but a recent opening in New York offered a new opportunity. Originally from New York, Souni liked The Capital Grille’s new location in Manhattan so much, he requested a transfer back to the city of his youth. He will continue to travel the country in his capacity as lead trainer, but Souni has already set his sights on his next position in the company. His goal is to become a Regional Manager. To achieve this goal, Souni knows he’ll first have to become a Restaurant Manager, a position he feels he’s perfectly suited for. As a trainer, he’s gained tremendous insight into all aspects of the manager’s position, from the kitchen to the front of the house. Souni continues to seek the advice of General Managers at Darden who have encouraged him to pursue his dream. At Darden, he has found a company that not only offers opportunities for personal growth, but actively helps its employees take the steps to achieve them.
