Q. How long have you been with Yard House, and what was your first job with the brand?
A. I’ve been with Yard House eight years, not counting a three-year break when I helped my father with his contracting business. I started as a server soon after the Yard House restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, opened, and then I became a bartender. I later moved into training, teaching two-day food classes for new team members. I began my manager training at the Palm Beach Gardens location but finished training at the Boca Raton restaurant, where I’m now a service manager.
Q. Why have you chosen a career with Yard House?
A. I have always felt connected to Yard House and its open-door culture in which team members are free to speak their minds without fear of repercussions. Communication is highly valued, and the company holds its team members to high levels of integrity. The opportunities to grow at Darden are limitless. My advancement depends on my performance, so it’s in my hands and under my control. Yard House has provided me with excellent training that included teaching me to be patient, a necessary attribute in a leader.
Q. What would people be surprised to learn about you?
A. I was born in Kuwait of Egyptian parents and I speak fluent Arabic. I moved to the United States when I was 12. I love living near the water in South Florida and am learning to paddleboard in the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.
