Summer Grilling Tips and Techniques from LongHorn Steakhouse
July 16, 2015
Did you know 45 percent of grill owners use their grill at least 1-2 times per week during summer months? Did you also know the most popular item to grill during the summer is steak?
At LongHorn, they know a thing or two about great steak. From bold flavors to signature steak entrees, LongHorn strives to be the best in everything they do. That’s how they’ve grown to become the undisputed home for great steak done right.
So we asked the experts at LongHorn to share some tips and techniques for your next barbeque.
STEP 1: Clean and Prep Your Grill
Make sure to fully clean and prep your grill using a wire-bristled brush and a light coat of vegetable or olive oil.
STEP 2: Fresh is Best
Skip the frozen steak and always use fresh, high-quality meats for the best flavor. We believe that doing something right starts with sourcing the right ingredients. Like fresh, never frozen meat.
STEP 3: Be Bold
There are several ways to add extra flavor to your meats when grilling. Use what we call, “the big four”—salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder—for bold flavor.
STEP 4: The Perfect Finish—Diamond Marks
Start with a hot grill that's been brushed and well-oiled and place a seasoned steak in the middle. After 3 minutes, turn it 90 degrees with a pair of tongs to get the perfect diamond grill marks. After another few minutes, flip it over and repeat the process.
We hope you enjoy the summer season with plenty of great steaks using the tips and techniques above. And if you’re looking for a break from the grill, let us do the work while you enjoy a steak The LongHorn Way. We’d love to have you in any of our restaurant locations across the country.
