Tapping into Our Limitless Opportunities

Now in its 12th year, the HSF Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes distinguished individuals that we want our children to emulate. Each of the Hall of Fame honorees shared his or her journey, which inspired all of us to continue to reach higher. These leaders were recognized for embodying one of the pillars of HSF, such as "altruista" (awarded for personifying the spirit of gratitude and the value of giving back) and "inspirador" (awarded for personifying hard work and sacrifice). You can read about each of the inductees here. The evening was filled with these inspiring stories that embodies how limitless goals can be.

It was also great to hear video testimonials directly from HSF scholarship recipients. These stories really brought the scholarship opportunities to life and showed how they impact individual students and their families. The funds awarded by HSF go to Latino students for scholarships and related support services. The goal is to give students all the tools they need to apply to college, do well and then excel afterwards. We heard stories from scholarship recipients about how HSF allows them to pursue their dreams, motivates them to excel in school and gives them the confidence to know they can do whatever they want in life.

Darden's support for HSF is an extension of the Darden Foundation’s Recipe for Success™ initiative, which fosters opportunities for low-income students by empowering them with the tools and resources needed to graduate from high school and pursue a college or technical school education. Together, with HSF, we established the Darden Foundation Recipe for Success™ Scholarship, which is accepting applications now. The recipients receive a $2,500 scholarship and academic support services to help them transition to and excel in college. Not only do we want to provide the opportunity for someone to go to college, but we also want to make sure they are set up for success once they are enrolled.

I am so glad I got the opportunity to attend this event and to share with some of my team members the great work Darden does outside of serving our guests in restaurants. Hearing directly about the opportunities that Darden and the Darden Foundation provide makes me proud to work for a company that helps others. Darden has always been a place where people can achieve their personal and professional dreams, and it’s great to see that we are working to create communities where this is possible as well.
